When do your products expire?
With the exception of products containing an SPF, our products do not have an expiry or best before date.
Shelf life of sunscreens
The shelf life unopened of our products that contain an SPF is 30 months (2.5 years) from manufacture date.
To find the manufacture date, look at the crinkled join at the top of a tube or the back of the bottle (pump) and you will notice some numbers embossed into it. The date of manufacture is in the form MM/YY/DD.
Once-opened period
With all of our products, if the product has been opened, the shelf life is indicated by an “Open Jar” symbol accompanied by the time in months that the product should be used within.
In the case of Green People products, this is either six months (6m) or twelve months (12m) depending on the type of product.
Cosmetics legislation & expiry dates
The reason there is no expiry date on the products is due to cosmetics legislation. The EU Cosmetics Directive and the UK Cosmetic Product Regulations stipulate the way that cosmetics are labelled.
Products with a shelf-life of greater than 30 months (which includes practically all of our product range) have to carry a batch number to allow the manufacturer to identify the production date and batch, and also display a PAO (Period After Opening) in the form of an Open Jar symbol with the life of the product after it is first used for which the product is fit for use – usually 6 months or 12 months.
We hope that answered your question!
