Help us to ensure that no Green People product ever ends up in a landfill and use this helpful guide to recycle your Green People product packaging after use.
Which Green People products are recyclable?
Almost all Green People products can be recycled at the kerb side. The exception to this is our 75ml toothpastes which can be recycled via Terracycle.
Our SPF sachets are one of the very few items we have where we have not been able to source recyclable packaging that meets our product safety standards. Whilst we continue to search for a recyclable alternative, please dispose of your used sachet in your household waste.
Recycling our sugar cane packaging
Most of our squeezy tube products are now packaged in a material that is made from sustainable, renewable sugar cane plastic.
Just like regular plastic, our sugar cane PE packaging can be recycled with other PE plastics at the kerb side through Local Authorities who usually collect plastic bottles and tubes.
If your Local Authority doesn’t collect plastic packaging, check with Terracycle for your nearest collection point: https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/
To make it easy to know which of our products are packaged in sugar cane plastic, we’ve added a sugar cane logo to our product descriptions.
Recycling our glass packaging
All our facial oils are packaged in glass bottles. Several of our Age Defy+ products are also packaged in glass pots and bottles including Pure Luxe Body Oil, Hydrate and Renew Serum and Hydra-Glow Sleep Mask.
This packaging can also be recycled at the kerb side through Local Authorities. Once you have finished with your product simply rinse out any residue and add it to your recycling box.
Recycling our PCR plastic packaging
Most of our hand washes and deodorants are packed in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic. This packing material is 100% recyclable and can be recycled at the kerb side.
Recycling our PP/PE plastic pumps
Our PP/PE plastic pumps allow us to give our natural and organic skin creams a good shelf life without packing them with preservatives.
You may also find a plastic disc (shive) covering some of our face masks and balms. These lightweight lids serve an important purpose and help to prevent the products from being contaminated by bacteria. In the interest of hygiene and product safety, we recommend keeping it in the pot until you have finished the product or are no longer using it.
Green People pump tubes and shives are both fully recyclable and can be put in with your normal household recycling.
While this PP and PE packaging is widely recyclable, some Local Authorities do not accept these higher-melting point plastics. If your local authority does not accept PP and PE packaging, your local Terracycle point may be the best place to recycle these products. Find your nearest Terracycle point here https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/
Recycling our cardboard
The sleeves and boxes used to package our products are made of FSC approved cardboard. In 2020 we also added an innovative eco-friendly cardboard packaging to our eco-friendly skin care range. The cardboard boxes used for our Nordic Roots range is made with 25% compostable grass which is also biodegradable and 100% recyclable.
All our products are posted in cardboard boxes and to reduce unnecessary packaging waste, we repurpose our delivery boxes and use them to transport our products from our door to yours.
All Green People cardboard packaging is FSC approved and can be placed in your household recycling.
Recycling our toothpaste tubes
We have introduced a fully recyclable toothpaste tube which can be recycled in your kerb side recycling.
Our other toothpaste tubes are made of aluminium-filled PE/PE sandwich in order to keep the product safe for use.
Terracycle accepts all brands of toothpaste tube. Please visit their website to discover your closest recycling point: https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB
Packing chips
So that your products stay safe in transit we pack them with compostable packing chips made from biodegradable non-GMO corn starch.
These remarkable packaging chips will dissolve before your eyes. Simply rinse them in water and watch them vanish. They can also be added to compost heaps or placed in your food waste bin.
Recycling our sachets
With the exception of our SPF sachets, all Green People sachets are recyclable and can be recycled with other PE & PP plastics at the kerb side.
